The Types of Common Mattress that Feel Good!

A mattress is one of those wise investments many people don’t realize is beneficial. A really good mattress may not give you a monetary return but health wise, it can give you more than you would think. Because most people spend an average of 8 hours a day sleeping on a mattress it would be wise to not buy a cheap mattress that causes back pain and other problems such as headaches, stiff neck, and others that may cause you to sleep less causing a chain reaction of other problems to occur.

There are many types of mattresses out there. However, we will cover the four top feel good mattresses.

The Hybrid

The hybrid is what it is: a hybrid. What makes a hybrid bed advantageous to many is that if approaches a simplistic method to provide an affordable bed without much impact to the environment. To explain further, imagine a cake with multiple layers. Those layers will consist of foam, latex, springs, and a combinations of other bed padding that helps reduce the price of the bed compared to a 100% pure memory foam bed or a pure latex bed. For some people, the mixture of bedding support offers more comfort making them satisfied with their beds. Furthermore, most can be happy because in general hybrid beds are cheaper.

The Latex

In general, the latex bed has some of the highest overall satisfaction among users. Most latex beds are quite firm and very comfortable which is the main preference for sleepers, especially for those who like to use their bed for many years. The latex material is highly durable with some reports from consumers being satisfied with their level of comfort for at least a decade. In addition, compared to other types of mattresses, the latex does not have a chemical odor unless the bed is made of a synthetic latex. However, even with synthetic latex, the smell is not so strong compared to other types of beds. Finally, one of the main reason why latex have been top-sellers is the pitch that the natural latex beds are non-toxic and safe to sleep on compared to other beds that use chemicals, which can be toxic as they break down through age.

The Innerspring

These types of beds are the classic type of beds. These types of mattresses are made of many springs (sometime thousands of them) that vary from thickness and strength. Simply speaking, if you want a really firm innerspring bed, then the coils will be quite strong. Though some may say that innerspring beds are obsolete because of foam, beds with internal coils have improved drastically from the past with their springs lasting longer because they are made with stronger metals such as titanium or steel coils. Innerspring beds are a familiar choice for many people especially for baby boomers that swear by them.

The Memory Foam

The memory foam mattress is the new type of mattress today. The memory foam works by molding to the contours of your body while you sleep, which is supposed to be very comfortable. Ironically, memory foam has been around since the 60’s when NASA used this special foam for seats and helmets to absorbs g-forces and add comfort for pilots and astronauts. Today, they are more commonly known to be used in beds. While conclusive scientific data about memory foam is not certain, it seems that memory foam can help aid with better sleep because the foam reduces pressure points while forming and supporting the body. However, one major disadvantage with memory foam beds is that it retains heat too well.  Furthermore, they have a strange chemical smell when they are new. Last but not least, memory foam beds are not recommended to be used for infants. Because of its very soft material, an infant can suffocate if it sleep in the wrong position.
